Bissell 3920 Pet Hair Eraser Dual Cyclonic Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Equipped with a powerful 12 amp motor, this upright bagless vacuum cleaner offers a unique design that not only handles general cleaning throughout the house, but also effectively removes pet hair. The unit’s two-stage cyclonic action provides superior suction for enhanced dirt and pet hair pick-up from carpet, bare floors, upholstery, stairs, and automobile interiors. For versatile above-floor cleaning, on-board tools include a curved hose wand, a 15-3/4-inch extension wand; a dusting brush/upholstery tool; a crevice tool for tight, narrow spaces; and a front-mounted pet-hair lifter that grabs pet hair like a lint brush. It also comes with a 4-inch Pet TurboBrush, which uses a rotating brush action for small flat areas, such as cushions and beds, and a 4-inch Pet Contour Tool, which bends and flexes to effectively pull dirt and hair from hard-to-reach areas. In addition, the vacuum cleaner offers seven manual carpet-height settings, a 15-inch cleaning path, dual-edge cleaning, and HEPA media filtration to help remove dust, dander, and other allergens from the air. Other highlights include a clean-filter indicator, a long 35-foot power cord, quick-release cord wraps, and a convenient carrying handle. The upright vacuum cleaner measures 15-1/4 by 15 by 45 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

From the Manufacturer

Why Should I Own a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Vacuum? Bissell has been providing quality floor care products for over 125 years. Our deep cleaning products are well known for their quality and superior performance. These same standards apply to our vacuum products as well. And, Bissell has a fully staffed consumer services department that is available to answer any of your questions.

Why is the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser a Great Vacuum for Pet Hair? The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser contains many features designed to pick up pet hair. Its superior suction, rotating brush, and pet hair lifter feature on the wide foot work together to do a great job of removing pet hair from carpets. The Pet Contour Tool bends and flexes to effectively pull out dirt and hair stuck on problem areas such as stairs, along armrests, and other curved or hard to reach surfaces. The Pet Hair Turbo brush combines a rotating brush with special rubber fingers that work as magnets to attract and pick up pet hair.

What are the Advantages of a Cyclonic Bagless Vacuum? Cyclonic cleaning technology keeps filters clean longer for superior suction power. Through cyclonic cleaning, more dirt and pet hair stays in the dirt container where it belongs, versus going to the filters. As filters clog, suction is reduced and cleaning performance drops. Therefore, by keeping filters clean longer, overall cleaning performance is improved. The other advantage of a bagless system is convenience. There are no more bags to search for, buy or change–ever! The clear dirt container allows you to see how much pet hair you have vacuumed up–and accomplished. And, with the clear dirt container it’s easy to remove an object that was swept up by accident.

Features

  • Dual cyclonic power: Two stage cyclonic action provides superior suction for better dirt and pet hair pick-up.
  • Easy empty dirt container: Makes clean up a snap.
  • HEPA media filter: Captures over 99.9% of pet dander dust mites, pollens and ragweeds.
  • Pet TurboBrush: Great for your pet’s favorite spot on the couch–works like a magnet.
  • Pet contour tool: Pulls out dirt and hair from hard to reach areas like stairs–bends and flexes for usability.
  • Pet Hair Lifter: Works like a lint brush–just vacuum like you normally would. The vacuum will grab pet hair when you pull back and it will release hair and suction it up when you push forward.
  • Dual Edge Cleaning: With Surround Suction for hard to reach places like baseboards and around furniture.
  • Ergonomic handle
  • Clean filter indicator
  • Carrying handle
  • 7 Height adjustments
  • Scuff resistant bumper

Stella’s Story

Meet Stella, a 5 year old Border Collie who lives in Sparta, Michigan, in a household with three cats named Lizzy, Ziggy, and Nevermore. Stella is a very active dog who loves to stay busy chasing the cats around the house, playing with her favorite red rubber ring toy, or hitting a ball across the kitchen floor. She plays hard except during thunderstorms when she hides in the bathtub. Watching cows from the back window during car trips to the bank is something she looks forward to as she know that she’ll get potato chips for a treat afterwards. The Pet Hair Eraser is a real treat for her owners, Lori and Ron, because of how well it takes care of the dirt and pet hair that Stella and their 3 cats leave behind.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars This vacuum has been very very good to me!
I bought this vacuum a couple months ago and have been using it for general regular cleaning since then. I have been very impressed, but today I found out that it is WONDERFUL!

Due to family scheduling I had to do Easter celebrations with my two children a day early. On a creative whim, I decided to scatter an ENTIRE BAG of Easter grass all over the floor leading to their baskets (Because the Easter Bunny is SO MESSY). Later, I pulled out this vacuum, and it completely cleaned up the entire mess. Except for having to empty the dirt cup a couple times (which is extremely easy to do) because of the bulk of the grass, this vacuum had no problem at all getting the job done. AMAZING!

I see a lot of people complaining that this vacuum is somewhat heavy. They are probably carrying it by the handle. Underneath the handle, where some of the tools are kept, there is an upside-down U-shaped area. If you pick it up gripping this area it becomes significantly lighter.

In short, BUY THIS VACUUM!

2 Stars What a piece of crap
I bought this thing a year ago. It worked great then. Now, leaves lines of animal hair when I vacuume. I have to vacuume each room twice to pick up what it left. I have 2 short haired cats and a short haired dog, it shouldn’t have that much difficulty picking up everything…especially when I vacuum every week. It also smells like it’s getting overheated. I clean the filter out and the dirt container. I even clean the brush heads and where the dirt funnels down into the dirt container. There’s no reason for all this. The green “light” is always on too so it’s not in the red. I’ve never had so much trouble with a vacuume cleaner. I’m getting a Dyson and putting this on the street.

1 Star BELT SLIPS AND BRUSH DOES NOT SPIN
BELT SLIPS CAUSING BRUSH NOT TO SPIN……THIS IS YMY SECOND BELT. DONT BUY THIS VACUUM

2 Stars Not worth the price
Alright… so I caved and bought this vacuum, even though it was two times as much as the other vacuum I was considering (Tempo Widepath). Mostly because of Owen’s review. I was very underwhelmed by it and will be returning it tomorrow. And it’s not because of any “breaking” issues… I’m positive I didn’t get a defective vacuum, so that’s not why I’m rating it low.

For background, I have two Rhodesian Ridgebacks (shorthaired dogs). It’s shedding season right now and they are poofing everywhere. Also we have one shorthaired cat. My DD Jaguar died when I tried to vacuum a couch pillow and we can’t seem to fix it, so I looked at a hundred million vacuums and reviews and decided on this vacuum over a Tempo because of the tools and because it’s bagless. Shoulda gone with the Tempo.

Pros:

1) Quiet! I found it was much quieter than my Dirt Devil Jaguar (aka Breeze). Dogs didn’t flee in terror… the baby didn’t cry. Very nice.

2) Tools work well on my couch and actually get the hair off. (Be aware the tools can be purchased for $30 here on amazon for any vacuum, so certainly not a reason to buy this vacuum)

3) Easy to empty. Come on people, go empty it out in your dumpster. It’s not that far and it’ll keep the dust from floating around your house. My DD was ANNOYING to empty. You had to pull out the filter and bang it a hundred times to empty the canister.

4) Hose is nice and easy to use and access. My DD was a pain to hook up, but this is very easy and intuitive.

5) Seems to vacuum the bare floors fine. It didn’t spit dirt back at me or anything, so that’s good.

Cons:

1) Heavy. This thing is really heavy. It’s a pain and makes my arm tired. And I live in a single level home.

2) Lint bar is completely useless. Also makes it hard to get right up to walls.

3) Tools fall off consistently. This might be because I use my leg to push vacuums forward though and I tend to bump the tools.

4) Attracts hair to itself in massive amounts. Gross! This thing looks like a dog itself when I’m done vacuuming… I have to vacuum it off with the hose.

5) Not as effective as a $150 vacuum should be. I vacuumed without the lint bar the first time, on the second to lowest setting (last time I had vacuumed was a week earlier with my DD).

Went around three rooms. Dust cup about half way full. It was mostly full of loose carpet fibers but also some dirt and some dog hair and my long hair. DD didn’t pick up carpet fibers, so that was impressive I thought. But then I got down on my hands and knees and checked my carpet…

Carpet still had an average of 1 or 2 dog hairs per 2 square inches (on the non-frequented parts… more on the parts of the carpet my dog lays on). Sure, my carpet wasn’t obviously covered in dog hair, but it wasn’t before either. I was expecting this to pick up ALL of the dog hairs, not 85% of them.

I had my daughter on the floor afterwards, and sure enough, she had all sorts of dog hair on her. This has not happened with my DD, so I know this is not picking up as well.

Anyway, I thought I’d give the thing another try… so two days later, I put the vacuum on the “Bare Floor” setting and went over two rooms TWICE each. The thing picked up about a quarter of a canister full of dirt and dog hair; no carpet fibers this time.

Got down on my hands and knees and looked… and… still 1 or 2 dog hairs per 2 square inches. 3 or 4 in the frequented areas. Went back over the most frequently laid on area with the lint bar down, three times. Got on hands and knees… same thing. There was dog hair laying on TOP of the carpet that STILL hadn’t been picked up.

What a waste!

I would suggest not purchasing this vacuum! It is not worth $150.

3 Stars Does an excellent job cleaning.
This vacuum cleaner has plenty of power to pick up dust and debris and the pet hair pickup features work quite well. It makes some noise, but I don’t really care about the noise since it cleans effectively. I just put on my headset and listen to my MP3 player. It is also a little heavy, but again, this is offset by the good job it does of cleaning. The attachments also work as advertised and are nicely stored on the machine. The washable main filter means I do not have to frequently buy replacement filters. I wish the HEPA filter was also user washable, but it has to be replaced when dirty, and is more expensive than it should be in my opinion. I only gave it three stars because of factors other than its cleaning abilities. First; emptying the dirt cup is a messy affair and best done outside. After emptying the cup you will have to vacuum the vacuum cleaner and the area around it. Second; the entire outside of this machine is a dust magnet. The black and clear plastic of this machine seem designed to easily show dust, and the entire machine quickly becomes coated. Vacuuming the machine off followed by wiping down with a damp cloth is required to get the dust off, but that is easier said than done. The machine has so many crooks and crevices that wiping it down is a difficult and time consuming job. Once I clean house, I must set aside a good portion of time to clean the cleaner! This might not be such a problem in some parts of the country, but in west Texas we have very dusty conditions, so dust can be a real problem in the house and on the vacuum. If Bissell had given this vacuum cleaner a more streamlined design it would be easier to clean. As it is now, I keep my filthy looking vacuum cleaner well hidden from friends and family. Not that I don’t clean it, but it still looks dirty after being cleaned! I had an all metal upright before I got this one. I think it was made in the 50’s and it worked well, just needed an occassional belt change, and had a bag that was thrown out when it became full, and no filters to clean or change, the bag served as the filter and replacement bags are still available! It was much cleaner to just change the dust bag, and the chromed metal surface never looked dirty like this one does. I gave it to charity, and replaced it with this one because the old one did not have attachments.

5 Stars love love love it!!
I bought this for my boyfried for christmas 2008 because he is such a stickler for clean floors. What with 2 dogs and a 2 year old, I thought it would be a fun gift and and an easy way to get somewhat clean floors when you don’t have time to sweep or just don’t feel like it. I planned on using it in the kitchen/dining room area. I really underestimated how great this thing works. You will be so surprised when you empty the dust bin after it cleans your floors and see how much dirt it picked up. I would highly recommend this product. I have had no problems with it at all. Just recently I bought a set of the virtual walls that go with the roomba and they work great too. I love it!

5 Stars Better than a boyfriend!
I love my new dirt dog. I told my husband that he is my new boyfriend. He vacuums under the furniture and never complains. I just love my Dirt Dog. He can bump into furniture edges a little hard, but never hurts them. I realize he is the cheapest boyfreind out of all the models…I wanted to make sure he was worth the investment before I upgrade. However, I am very content with this series. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, I am amazed how he still finds hair after I run a conventional vacuum sweep. He is worth every penny! I am going to buy one for my mom…she needs a boyfriend too!

5 Stars Best money I have spent in a long time!
This has become my new best friend. It picks up all the sand, dirt, and pet hair on my wood laminate floors daily. It has a small pull out dirt collector that I need to empty daily and runs about 45 minutes on a charge which is enough to fully clean an area about 1100 sq. feet. That includes going around chair and table legs. It has a little brush on one side that cleans along the wall edges and around items. This has been a life saver to me living on the sandy gulf coast with 3 dogs. When it can no longer keep up with the daily use, I won’t hesitate to buy another. I love, LOVE, LOVE IT

5 Stars iRobot Dirt Dog – Best solution around until the Terminators come
I love robots and I hate vacuuming, so the best way to combine both love & hate was to get the Dirt Dog.

Maybe one day Amazon will sell Terminators to help us with other duties, like folding our laundry, cooking for us or even killing future leaders of the Resistance. In the meantime, if you need to vacuum the floors, the best thing around is to get one of these.

Yes, technically this is not a vacuum Roomba but it still gets rid of hair, dust, crumbs and things like that. He’s an efficient soldier.

You do have to help the Dirt Dog a little. It’s better if you move around objects like chairs, cables or lamps. If not, the robot will be bouncing back and forth between different areas and won’t clean as much as it is supposed to. Maybe one day they will built them with arms and better intelligence, but that could also lead them to destroy you while you sleep.

5 Stars A robot that helps you save time and energy !!
This irobot dirt dog has less sophisticated parts than the roomba and it runs pretty good. My observation is that it cleans really well and it goes to some of the hard to reach places. It runs for 1 hour on a full charge and it does sweep up most of the debris and sand on the little red rug that I have in the garage.

I was really impressed as my other roomba would not go on a burgundy rug. As for durability I don’t know yet , hopefully it will last over 1 year. Try not to watch the dirt dog when its cleaning , otherwise you would wonder where its going all the time. It would suddenly stop and turn around !! But after 1 hour or so you can really see the floors are much cleaner and it has done its job. I definetely recommend getting one !!

What it can do:

Sweeps patios, decks, workshops, garages, basements and other industrial floor surfaces.

High-speed, counter-rotating brushes and High Capacity Sweeper Bin clean up heavy duty messes.

Easily picks up dirt, leaves, woodchips, nuts, bolts and more.

Cleans beneath workbenches, cars, deck furniture and other hard-to-reach places.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Favorite Style
The Vic Firth French Rolling Pin quickly became my favorite tool for rolling out doughs, especially pie crusts.

For more than 40 years, I used a standard style pin with ball bearings and hand-holds on each end. The Vic Firth rolling pin is lighter and easier to handle; making it faster to turn out the exact thickness of dough needed. Why did I not purchase one sooner??????????

5 Stars A wonderful deal!
This rolling pin is very well-made and feels great to use. Vic Firth wood working is top of the line, and this is another example. This rolling pin works well for making pizza crusts, french bread, almost anything. Highly recommended!

5 Stars perfect pizzas and pie crusts, and made in the USA.
Words can’t describe the perfectly round doughs this pin makes. A Snap to clean up too. Lightly floured, nothing sticks to it, and I mean nothing. How did I ever get though baking without this. Made in the USA too, in Maine. Love it!!

5 Stars Keep this away from your sister if she is like mine
I have had two of these wonderful rolling pins. I recently had to purchase a new one since my sticky fingered sister “borrowed” mine. I will never see it again I fear. Anyway, this is an ideal roller. It is simple, easy to use and the more you use it, the better it gets. I prefer wood (I have tried the plastic or what-ever and they just don’t have the same feel). I collect rolling pins, antique for the most part, and have actually tried most of them at one time or another. This little “stick” dose the job that the big fancy ones do, but to be honest, it is more fun to use. The price on this one is great. The first one I bought was almost twice as much as this one being offered. I use mine for anything that needs rolling out, not just pie crusts. Now if I could just figure out why my sister pinched my first pin….about the only baking she ever does or is capable of is microwaving a frozen cup cake, and she usually messes even that up. Go figure!

5 Stars my new favorite
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get one of these. Lose the old fashioned American rolling pin and get one of these. High quality wood, feels good in your hands. Easier to use than American pins.

5 Stars All I need in the kitchen
I looked for this set because while living overseas in a furnished apartment recently I had been provided with its French equivalent and used it with pleasure. So when I returned to the US I replaced an aging, heavier, and more expensive set of cookware (one that I had been unwise enough and lazy enough to wash in the dishwasher) with this economical, practical, and completely satisfactory one.

4 Stars Great pans, but did NOT fit the description…
I love T-fal, but was very disappointed to get these and find out that they did NOT match the description. I have owned T-Fal for years, and specifically picked these because the description listed that they had thermospots and handles that vented. I was very disappointed to get them, and then realize that they aren’t vented, nor do they have thermospots. I will still use them, but they are definitely not what they were advertised as.

5 Stars Excellent Cookware Pro or Amature!
Whether you spend hours a day in the kitchen, whip together a meal or two a week, or cook for friends/family on the weekend…your gonna love this cookware set!

I previously owned a set of “bachelor hand me downs” from when I first moved out. They were fine but nothing special, eggs stuck like glue, the Teflon flaked like old paint…basically needed to be replaced! I purchased these on Amazon and got them the next day (I was sick of eating Teflon chips in every dish)

The difference was like night and day! I had some friends over and the first thing was an amazing high quality box of Kraft Mac & Cheese. Not my choice at all since I love to cook, but hey who am I to judge. After my buddy added the cheese sauce and mixed it in, he dumped the cheesy sticky mixture into a huge bowl and threw the pan in the sink…shocker. That night I cleaned up and thought well lets test the Teflon coating in these…even after 5 hours of drying on it rinsed right out with the tap water pressure!

After this experiment I got to try some real cooking, which included blueberry pancakes, stir-fry veggies, chicken Parmesan, and shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. Everything cooked perfectly, even heat, and your sauces and stuff glide right off the awesome coating in this cookware, inside and out.

The covers, and steamer are also an awesome addition to the set, everything is well built and feels very even in your hand. Durability so far (4 months) has been incredible, tons of dishwasher cycles, lots of cooking, even a few mishaps with metal flatware (which I wanted to avoid) haven’t phased this stuff!

I was so impressed with this set I picked one up for my moms Birthday this year, she cooks ALOT more than I do so I’m sure she’ll give them even more of a workout! Overall Id say if your needing some new pots and pans at a great price that will last a long time…these will do the trick!

5 Stars Fast and Afforable
I saw the same exact set in the store for over 100.00. They got here the very next day!

Exactly what I needed, I recommend this to EVERYONE

5 Stars Cookware Review
My daughter was moving, and needed her own kitchen items. We went to Amazon.com to view items. I saw this, and ordered it for her. It was delivered promptly. It was everything as promised.
